Broomwood Hall Upper School is a preparatory school for girls aged 8-13, part of the Northwood Schools family. We are the only all-girls’ day school in South West London geared towards delivering outstanding academic success for entry to leading day and boarding schools at both 11+ and 13+.
We provide a traditional, rounded education, tailored to the modern world tailored to the developmental needs of girls aged 8 to 13, which differ from those of boys of the same age. Our girls are hardworking, focussed and confident – and they relish the challenges and opportunities that Broomwood Hall provides. Our motto, ‘To do your best to be your best’ exemplifies the ethos of our school.
Our curriculum is designed to be stimulating and forward thinking, embracing and allowing us to put into practice some of the most innovative and dynamic teaching methods. Our maths mastery approach has seen some wonderful results and our pioneering use of iPads has helped to transform the classroom experience. All teaching is subject based and taught by specialists and with very small classes we can both stretch and support each girl, to allow her to maximise her potential and achieve the highest level of excellence of which she is capable.
Most of our pupils come to us from Broomwood Hall Lower School, our co-educational pre-prep school and many of our girls have brothers at Northcote Lodge, our sibling boys’ prep school, all part of the Northwood Schools family.
In the final two years (Years 7 and 8) there is increasing interaction and collaboration between Broomwood girls and Northcote boys on joint activities from sport to clubs to specialist teaching. It’s an approach that has created both a happy, productive environment – and considerable successes in Common Entrance and scholarship examinations.
Northwood Schools is a family of four independent schools which includes Broomwood Hall Lower School, Broomwood Hall Upper School, Northcote Lodge, and, from September 2020, NorthWood Senior. Together, we offer an unrivalled quality of education from 4-16.
